1-Cut a  3 in square for the center and then put your name on the center square the finished the size is 2 1/2.  You can write your name as the picture shows or go diagonal (corner to corner) if you want to wear your nametag on point. 

2- Now doing 8 half square tringles to make a 1 1/2 in half square triangles block or do 4 Flying geese units that are 3 in finished. 

3-the corner squares are 1 1/2 in  cut units

4- This will give you a 5 in square  when it is all sewn together.  As for color you can stay with the blue theme like the raffle quilt or go with a light blue and red if you want to go more patriotic. Colors are up to you 

5- I found this web site that has instructions for making this quilt block if you need more help with making the block Make a Sawtooth Star   If you want to make a smaller block then a 5 1/2 there are measurement for making other size blocks if you want to go a little smaller or larger then the 5 1/2 square that Candace is showing in the picture above.
